Laboratory tests on I-Pro 1: the results.

Earthquakes are among the most dangerous natural events in our country (and beyond). In just over 45 years, more than 4650 seismic events have occurred with a total cost for maintenance and reconstruction of over 121 billion euros. The cause of this damage is not only the high seismic risk of the area, but also the high vulnerability of the existing building stock. To reduce the seismic vulnerability of existing buildings, and thus mitigate the damage in the event of a seismic event, ISAAC developed I-Pro 1, the first intelligent active technology for seismic response control of existing buildings applicable according to ISO 3010:2017 standard.ISAAC, through laboratory tests carried out at the Eucentre Research Center, has demonstrated according to the State of the Art the operation and effectiveness of the I-Pro 1 control system installed on full-scale buildings.
For this reason they were built two identical buildings with three decks in reinforced concrete and brick infill. The buildings were subjected to earthquakes of increasing intensity in order to analyze with a comparative method the state of gradual damage of the two structures: one equipped with the I-Pro 1 system and the other without the technology.

The objective of the laboratory tests was therefore to analyze the structural behavior of a typical existing building compared to an identical building equipped with the ISAAC Protection 1 (I-Pro 1) active seismic response control system.
The technical report of the laboratory tests on the vibrating table, available by filling out the form on this page, fully documents the tests carried out and the results obtained throughout the experimental campaign. #terquakeISAAC.
