ISAAC and EUCENTRE sign an agreement to test I-PRO 1, the first seismic protection system that protects existing buildings from earthquakes.

ISAAC has signed the agreement with Eucentre for test the active control system of the seismic response on a vibrating table I-Pro 1: the first plug-and-play technology that protects existing buildings from earthquakes.

Why is testing the patented I-Pro 1 system important to the scientific community and technical innovation?

The I-Pro 1 test at Eucentre laboratories represents a unicum in the civil engineering sector both nationally and internationally, it is in fact the first experimental test of an active seismic response control system installed on a full-scale reinforced concrete building subjected to the simulation of an earthquake on a vibrating table .

What is I-Pro 1?

ISAAC Protection 1 (I-Pro 1) is the first patented technology designed to protect existing buildings in the event of an earthquake, just install it on the roof of the building to autonomously protect the structure in the event of a seismic event.

How does I-Pro 1 work?

The device with inertial mass moved by electro-hydraulic actuators is the heart of I-Pro 1. The devices, once installed together with the accelerometric sensors, during the seismic event counteract the movement of the building, reducing its oscillation amplitudes and consequently the efforts applied to the structural elements, minimizing the risk of damage or collapse.

What does the I-Pro 1 test at Eucentre include?

The I-Pro 1 test at Eucentre laboratories involves the execution of dynamic tests on two reinforced concrete structures mounted in parallel on a mono-axial vibrating table. After the installation of the system on one of the two structures, a comparative approach will follow in order to evaluate the seismic performance of the two structures, in terms of floor accelerations and inter-floor displacements, and therefore the effectiveness of the technology.

When will the test be carried out?

The test of the I-Pro 1 system will be carried out in early 2021 at the Eucentre laboratories in Pavia. To stay updated on the progress of the project and of our start-up, we invite you to follow the official ISAAC channels.
